Can anyone help? Diagnostic Socket

AGH! has a diagnostic socket in the engine bay. The problem is that it has a slightly different pin layout to the other MX5 cars i have seen on the net. Can anyone tell me where the GND pin is located - (the standard layout has 4 pins on the bottom row - mine has 6!

  1. Hi there,

Looking through your blog (interesting, lots of detail) and I see your mention of the 'Diagnosis' socket pinout.
I've got an imported JDM 2001 built RS six speed and I'm trying to get information about the pinout of the connector. Where yours appears to have pins in almost all of the sockets, mine has a total of 11 that are populated (can't see how to post a picture here) and I'm trying to see if I can build an interface unit that will allow me to get OBDII-type information out.
    Any idea?

  2. This looks the same as my 1996 mx6 diag socket if it is the same the earth pin is the left most pin on the second row (with 7 pins) the TEN is the third from the left of the top 4 pins ( the 4 th on the top is the B+ make sure you do not connect this to ground by accident when reading codes with the flash method, if you do you will have to change the "meter" fuse for your dash lights etc as this blows it, good luck.Bob
